I designed these socks for my dad, the best babysitter in the world. Sometimes we get home and he has taken the kids to the park, mowed the lawn, fixed a leaky faucet, or cleaned the stove. Other times we get home, and he’s taking a nap and all the ice cream is gone. That’s okay. He’s earned it. No matter who your best babysitter is, he or she would appreciate these hand knit socks.

This is a textured, unisex, cuff-down sock with a simple knit/purl/slip stitch pattern that is easy to memorize, making this a great project to knit on the go. Written directions are provided. The slip stitches make it a great pattern for variegated yarn, and the stitch pattern really pops with solid yarn too.

Sizes: Small (Medium, Large) for a circumference of 7 (8, 9)” or 18 (20, 23)cm.

Gauge in pattern: 32 sts over 4” (10 cm) or 8 sts per inch.

Skill Level: Adventurous beginner or intermediate. If you’ve already knit plain socks, this is a great next step.

Yarn: 300—450 yds (275—410 m) fingering weight yarn.
