3 gauges are given so the design can work on any machine with 2 beds. It may also be made on a single bed machine but you will have to sew a very long seam. Double bed is definitely preferred but notes are provided at the end for those who don’t have one. You will need to review your manual for the specifics of tubular knitting. Basics: CX/CX for Passaps, 1 lever on each carriage for Studio/Singer, 1 part button on each carriage for Brother. The gauges given are 7, 5.5 and 4 stitches and 10, 8, 6 rows per inch, intended for fingering, sport weight, worsted weight yarn on standard or Passap, mid-gauge, bulky machines. The appropriate numbers appear in the same order as just given in the pattern. Adjust stitch size as needed for your machine to match the gauge. The sample is made with marl yarn from Stephanie’s Studio. Two sizes are given. The smaller size fits medium sized children, the larger size fits most teens and adults and many tweens.
