Betagen
What makes the sweater Betagen by designer Theresa Shingler so much fun to knit is its Chevron pattern. The classic zigzag colour pattern is popular in fashion design to create statement pieces. Our heathered yarn Manx Merino Fine gives the design a special vividness through its subtle light-dark reflexes. For Betagen, we have chosen the grey shades Rock and Thunderstorm for a particularly elegant, timeless look. The sweater has a comfortable length, but can also be tucked into high-cut trousers or skirts because of the light yarn. Betagen is knitted seamlessly, which not only eliminates the need for sewing together but also gives the sophisticated pattern a continuously beautiful look.
Betagen offers a lot of knitting interest for advanced knitters and might be a bit more challenging for beginners - a great opportunity for improving your skills. It is worked in the round from the bottom up. Starting from the hem and sleeve cuffs, the body and sleeves are knitted separately up to the underarms where they are joined. Decreases are integrated into the Chevron pattern to create the yoke from the underarms to the neckline. Short rows are used to shape the back neckline. The underarms are grafted last.
Betagen is part of our first own collection 2020 with the theme Joy. It was conceived by Rosy and realized with a team around the world in times of a global pandemic. The pattern names are joyful expressions from different languages. They remind us that joy, diversity and solidarity across borders can give us hope and strength. Betagen means delighted, filled with admiration in Swedish.
