Betta loves Shetland Shawlette
This pattern has directions for both garter stitch and stockinette stitch lace
I designed this shawlette for my very dear friend Betta, she wanted a small triangle to wear under a jacket or a coat and … she loves Shetland !
This shawlette features traditional and modified Shetland lace motifs I found in various stitch dictionaries and in Sharon Miller’s book Heirloom Knitting.
The kerchief is a perfect approach to Shetland lace knitting because it is knitted in not too fine lace-weight wool and it has a section of both right and wrong side patterned rows.
Fun to knit, it is a great gift, easy to wear also on casual outfit for a modern look.
I suggest to avoid multicolored yarn which would obscure the pattern.
Materials
Lace-weight wool (700 mt / 100 g - 766yards / 3.53 oz)
needles size 3.5mm / US size 4
needles size 4.00mm /US size 6
the needles size 4.00mm are used only to bind off the stitches.
The pattern is in charted and text format.
