Better Days Sweater
Here is another sweater I designed with my husband in mind. He likes his sweaters to fit well, and be comfortable around the neck and be ‘smart but not too smart’. Luckily he has me to translate all of that into a sweater design.
For this sweater I’ve used worsted weight yarn, to make this design comfortable to wear for most of the year. The sleek styling and understated pattern mean that the sweater will fit into most situations, whether they are formal or informal.
The classic raglan sweater shape is given an update with the addition of five subtle texture bands that cross the sweater at regular intervals. There are full instructions for working these bands, and also for working the yoke shaping techniques.
To fit: Chest size 36 (38, 40, 42, 44){46, 48, 50, 52} in/91 (96, 101, 106, 112){117, 122, 127, 132) cm. The chest size of the finished sweater is 2 in/5cm larger than the wearer’s chest. (For example, the finished sweater for the 36in/91cm chest size measures 38in/96cm).
Yarn: Paintbox Yarns 100% Wool Worsted Superwash, (218 yd/200 m per 3½ oz/100g ball); 6 (6, 7, 7, 7){8, 8, 8, 9} balls. Quantities required for other worsted weight yarns: 1225 (1310, 1380, 1445, 1510){1575, 1640, 1705, 1795} yd/1120 (1200, 1260, 1320, 1380){1440, 1500, 1560, 1640} m.
Needles: US 6/4mm and US 7/4.5mm circular needles and/or DPNs for your preferred method of working in the round.
Other Tools and Supplies: 4 stitch markers, 2 lengths waste yarn or stitch holders, yarn/tapestry needle.
The sweater has been carefully designed to provide a neat finish to the sillhouette and a good fit throughout.
This sweater is worked in one piece from the neck down, with no seams to sew.
