Betty
Betty is part of the Born & Bred collection, a book made in partnership with baa ram ewe, the awesome Yorkshire yarn shop taking Yorkshire wool to the world! The book is available in print from baa ram ewe.
The Pattern
Betty is knitted from the top down, starting with the icord loop. The ridged top is knitted in the round, then the cabled sides are knitted flat. Increases and decreases create the curve detail between the cables. At the bottom the sides are joined to knit in the round with applied icord to finish.
Full written instructions are included for everything. A supplementary chart is also included for the cabled sides.
At the given gauge the tea cosy measures 8” high and is 13” across at the widest point, ie it is suitable for a large teapot. The pattern includes needle and yarn recommendations for smaller tea cosies.
Choose needles for your preferred methods of small diameter circular knitting and flat knitting.
The pattern is available in both A4 and Letter size formats, and all instructions include both US and UK knitting terminology.

History
Betty’s Tearooms in Harrogate are probably the most elegant and popular tea rooms in the whole of England. Established in 1919 the tearooms retain the best appearances and traditions of that bygone era. Their service is second to none.
Betty’s is situated a short walk from the venue of the annual Knitting and Stitching Show at Harrogate Conference Centre.
Born & Bred was launched at Betty’s on Saturday 24th of November 2012 with champagne, canapés, and entertainment from local musician, Roger Davies.
