This jacket has a deep shawl collar made by short row knitting. The shape is classic bomber jacket, with a wide ribbed edge that sits on the hip and slanted inset pockets to push your hands into.
The size was intended to be a close fit for me (size 16) though it is modelled as a loose jacket by my daughter (size 10) who now owns the jacket - so I’m doing something right.
It is knitted in quite a heavy, drapey yarn with silk in the blend and I plan to make another in a bouncier, more elastic woolen spun yarn, which I think will give more of a bomber jacket style.
I dyed the yarn with silver birch bark and used 300m in the deepest shade and 200m each of lighter shades from the afterbath combined in stripes.
