Turn-of-the-century fashion owed a great debt to Madeleine Vionnet and her bias-cut gowns. Her unmistakable flowing lines reappear in the handkerchief hem of this dressy top, adorned with delicate lace.

YARN Shibui Knits Cima (70% super baby alpaca, 30% fine Merino; 328 yd / 1.75 oz): #2038 cove (A), 1 skein.
Shibui Knits Staccato (70% superwash Merino, 30% silk; 191 yd / 1.75 oz ): #2038 cove (B), 3 (4, 4, 5, 5, 6) skeins.
NEEDLES Size 4 (3.5 mm): 32″ circular and set of double-pointed. Size 5 (3.75 mm): 24″ circular and set of double-pointed. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
NOTIONS Markers; stitch holders; tapestry needle.
GAUGE 23 sts and 30 rnds = 4″ in St st using B on larger needles.
NOTES This top is worked in the round to the underarm, then the front and back are worked separately back and forth.
