Bicki's Bamboo Rib
I developed this stitch pattern after seeing a “bamboo” knit stitch on Ravelry and wondered if I could make it even more bamboo-like. I used a photo of a bamboo wall for reference. The pattern is simple: a k2, p1 rib with bamboo stitches worked occasionally on the right side. This pattern would make a great companion afghan strip to leaf afghan strips. The repeat is 18 stitches by 12 rows.
Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, purl, YO (yarn over), slip YO over 2 stitches and cast off in rib stitch.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able thread/yarn will work. Make a swatch to check size and appearance.
8 yards of Universal Yarn’s Uni Merino will make 12 rows by 39 stitches wide of bamboo rib at gauge.
