Biellese works up beautifully in DK weight yarn too. Just use the larger needles and hook. The DK yarn used in the new sample is the Torrey DK yarn by Fairway Fibers. Two skeins each of two different colors makes the same shawl pattern larger (80” wide 203 cm) and more cozy at a gauge of 15 sts and 20 rows to 4” 10 cm.

Biellese is the third of the Seven Sheep. Named after an Italian breed of sheep, because everything sounds so much better in Italian or French!

Biellese is worked by knitting a side-ways two-tone ruffle. The ruffle is worked with the simplest of short-rows, no intarsia, no troubles! Then you pick up and stitches and work the slip-stitch body in alternating bands of color.

The sample is worked up in Topaz Blue and Tequila Lime.

Biellese blocks out to a shoulder-hugging half-circle shape to wrap you up in gorgeous color!

Remember when working this (or any pattern) that gauge is way more important than needle size. The slip stitch body pattern will work up more tightly than a stockinette gauge.
