Big and Little Owl
Hoot! Have you ever wanted to make amigurumi, but weren’t sure where to start? Big and Little Owls are the perfect beginner amigurumi pattern. These owls use all the basic stitches needed for amigurumi, plus feature very simple assembly.
Both the Big and Little Owl use primarily single crochet, a tiny bit of double crochet, and decreases. You will also need to be able to work in the round, and do a little basic assembly.
You will need about 20 yards of worsted weight yarn for the Little Owl, and about 40 yards of worsted weight yarn for the Big Owl. Both owls also require a small amount of accent yarn for the tummy and beak. You will want to use a hook smaller than normal (I used an F hook) to create a fabric with no holes. You will also need a tapestry needle to sew together the pieces and weave in ends, buttons for the eyes, and a small amount of stuffing.
This pattern was originally designed for the Amigurumi Owls Class at Twisted PDX in Portland, OR. You can see their classes here.
