Big Bold Foliage
This sock pattern was originally designed for Biscotte Yarns Mystery Sock Club, month of July 2021. Worked from the top down with a heel flap, the stitch pattern used in this design creates an effect similar to the herringbone stitch that makes the stripes of the Self Striped yarn ripple for an nice effect that stands out from the crowd!
The special self-striping yarn colorway used to knit this design is available exclusively in a knitting kit including the pattern here: BIG BOLD FOLIAGE KIT
.
In addition to the pattern, you will need the following materials to knit the Big Bold Foliage socks:
- Biscotte Yarns - BIS-SOCK 85% merino sw, 15% nylon, 400m per 100g skein. 1 skein (100g) shown in Big Bold Foliage colorway.
- Circular needleor double-pointed needles of 2.25 mm; US #1 (or size needed to obtain gauge).
- Tapestry needle & stitch markers (if needed).
Gauge : 34 stitches = 10 cm in stockinette stitch
Size : adult one size
Circumference (unstretched) : 16 cm; 6 ¼ in.
Foot length : adjustable.
NOTE : Like the chevron, this is a stitch pattern that compresses the knitting and has little stretch. As a result, the number of stitches to cast-on will seem excessive, but don’t worry: your sock won’t be too big! Also, be sure to check your gauge for the reasons stated above.
