Materials and tools.
For this crocodile are used yarn MADAME Cotton 306 yards (280 meters)/100 grams (3.5 Oz). Colors 054 dark green and 019 light green, plus some light color for inner sides of the mouth.
Other brand Alize Cotton Gold 180 yards (165 meters)/50 grams (1.76 Oz) or Jeans YarnArt. These threads are little thinner, but similar. This is just 50% cotton, for the best quality I recommend 100% cotton.
You can choose your style of the toy. VERY IMPORTANT. This pattern is suitable only for crocheting in 2 colors!
I recommend take 250 grams of the light green and 300 grams of the dark green and 50 grams of the light beige color.
Hook 1.25 mm, choose the hook for yourself. Crocheting should be very, very tight.
◦ Filler holofiber for stuffing. I recommend lightweight filler, because the toy is very big. About 800 - 1000 gr.
◦ Flat pliers and cutters for wire and helping with sewing legs and eyelids. Tweezers and wood sticks for stuffing.
◦ Steel wire frame 1,5 mm and adhesive tape for wrap the frame. Imperatively recommend only thick steel wire, because in this case the frame should be very hard. I am using cotton medical tape – plaster for wrapping the frame. Frame for fingers 1 mm.
Materials for painting.
◦ Soft pastel for body and metallic acrylic paints for the eyes painting.
◦ Acrylic varnish for use with soft pastel.
◦ Brushes for painting, different sizes. Black permanent markers or textile marker or waterproof liner.
◦ The painting with soft pastel is very perfect for 100% cotton threads. I don’t recommend paint on the 100% acryl, and don’t recommend acryl exactly.
◦ White polymer clay for making eyes, teeth, eyelids and claws. You can take only white color and tint it or you can take original others color of polymer suitable with thread colors. I used white color and made yellow, light green, dark green colors with soft pastel.
◦ And universal invisible glue, that not leave traces. I recommend Moment Crystal by Henkel.
◦ Needles for sewing eyelids and legs.
◦ Silicone brush pen for sculpting and modeling.
◦ Varnish for the sculpted details. I use UV gel polish and UV lamp.
IMPORTANT. Please, read whole pattern till the end for choose your way making this toy.
There are bellow alternative techniques, that can be used for decorating. I don’t give these technique in actual pattern. I used it in my others patterns Big Iguana and Monitor lizard for example.
1) Polymer clay can be replaced by epoxy plasticine.
2) Soft pastel for painting on the body can be replaced by markers with brush.
3) For the eyes can be used glass hemispheres, diameter 18 mm. Or ready glass eyes with narrow pupils, gold, y
