Big Frajda socks were inspired by my old sock design, Frajda. These socks were made using very simple stranded colorwork pattern with triangles on the leg and behind the toes.
This time, I wanted to make fully stranded colorwork socks. Big Frajda are featuring very similar pattern as Frajda, I’ve only added stitches in the middle of triangles, to make the floats shorter and the socks easier to knit. Btw, “frajda” is a polish word meaning fun or great pleasure.

Sizes
{ 1 – 64sts, 2 – 70sts, 3 – 76sts }
Finished foot circumference, unstretched: { 18.8, 20.6, 22.3 } cm / { 7.5, 8.25, 9 } ”
The socks were designed to be worn with small negative ease in width (about 1.5 – 2 cm / 0.6 – 0.8”).

Yarn
For a pair of socks you will need about 50g (210m / 230y) of any sock yarn in fingering weight in each color.
MC: { 190, 200, 210 } m / { 210, 220, 230 } y; CC: { 120, 130, 140 } m / { 135, 145, 155 } y.
Note: The yardage is estimated and depends on sock length. 50g (210m / 230y) of yarn in MC should be enough to make socks up to size 3 for a foot length about 25cm / 10” long ( size EU 41). To make longer socks you will need more yarn in MC.

Needles
2.5 mm / US #1.5 circular needles for magic loop or DPNS, or size needed to get the proper gauge;
2.25 mm / US #1 circular needles for magic loop or DPNS, or two sizes smaller than the gauge needles.

Gauge
34 sts and 36 rounds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 “ - in stranded colorwork pattern worked in the round with 2.5 mm / US #1.5 needles, after wet blocking.
34 sts and 48 rounds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 “ - in st st pattern worked in the round with 2.25 mm / US #1 needles, after wet blocking.
Note: Adjust needle size if necessary to get given gauge.

Big Frajda zainspirowane zostały moim starym wzorem skarpetkowym, Frajda. Tamte skarpety zostały wykonane przy użyciu prostego wzoru żakardowego w trójkąty, umieszczonego na nogawce oraz tuż za palcami. Tym razem chciałam zrobić skarpety w całości żakardowe. Big Frajda mają bardzo podobny wzór. Dodałam tylko oczka na środku trójkątów żeby skrócić przejścia nitek na lewej stronie, a tym samym ułatwić dzierganie. Przerabianie tych skarpetek to prawdziwa wielka frajda.

Rozmiary
{ 1 – 64o., 2 – 70o., 3 – 76o. }
Obwód nierozciągniętej skarpety w stopie: { 18.8, 20.6, 22.3 } cm.
Wybierz rozmiar o obwodzie około 1.5 - 2 cm mniejszym niż obwód twojej stopy.

Włóczka
Na parę skarpet potrzebne będzie około 50g / 210m dowolnej włóczki typu skarpetkowego o grubości “fingering” w każdym kolorze.
MC: { 190, 200, 210 } m; CC: { 120, 130, 140 } m.
Uwaga: Zużycie włóczki podano w sposób orientacyjny. 50g / 210m włóczki w kolorze głównym MC powinno wystarczyć na skarpety do rozmiaru 3 o długości stopy około 25cm ( pasuje na rozmiar EU 41). Do wykonania dłuższych skarpet potrzebne będzie więcej włóczki w kolorze MC.

Druty
2.5 mm na żyłce lub skarpetkowe, lub rozmiar potrzebny do osiągnięcia prawidłowej próbki;
2.25 mm na żyłce lub skarpetkowe, lub druty o dwa rozmiary mniejsze niż druty do próbki.

Próbka ściegu
34 o. i 36 okrążeń na kwadrat 10 x 10 cm, wykonywana w okrążeniach ściegiem żakardowym na drutach w rozmiarze 2.5 mm, po blokowaniu na mokro.
34 o. i 48 okrążeń na kwadrat 10 x 10 cm, wykonywana w okrążeniach ściegiem dżersejowym na drutach w rozmiarze 2.25 mm, po blokowaniu na mokro.
Uwaga: Jeśli to konieczne dostosuj rozmiar drutów, aby uzyskać prawidłową próbkę.
