Big Goose Winter Hat
1/17/2017 I’m removing this pattern from my store for a while, so I can re-knit it, make a new pdf and have it test-knitted. So it will be back up again one of these days. In the meantime, check out my other patterns! Thank you for your interest in the pattern.
This is another hat inspired by the amazing Yurok basket hats, made by Yurok Indians in northern California. This one features a motif of Canadian geese flying over the Siskiyou mountains. The pattern contains instructions for stranded knitting, lateral braids and lateral braid decreases. There are two styles for the top of the hat, one based on ordinary decreases creating a 10-petal pattern or a coiled top based on decreasing lateral braids. I like the look of both of them, so couldn’t decide on which one to include. So, you get both!
