Size really depends on type of material and size of hook you using, which is up to you.

I used 1100 grams (2425lb) / 3410 meters (3729 yards) of 100% cotton suitable for G/4mm crochet hook

Crochet hook E/3,5mm for edges and H/5mm for the body of the purse.
