This is a fuller size hat made with the idea that all the children who receive hats through our local hats for kids project are not all small. Although most of the hats are delivered to a Title I elementary school, another batch is given to kids who live in homeless shelters. That would include kids in their teens.

Size: pre-teen to teen
The sample hat measures 8½” from top to bottom, and 13½” around the bottom band (unstretched). The hat is a loose-fitting beanie. If a slouchier style is desired, knit additional rounds of the stockinette before beginning the decrease rounds that form the crown.

Sweet Roll is a yarn with long color changes so the sample hat features stripes, but there’s no need for joining or splicing. The hat can be knit using a solid color or semi-solid yarn.
