Bike Applique
This bike applique uses a magic ring to start off the front wheel - then a chain is worked, a slip stitch is done to make a second ring, and the back wheel is worked. After that, it’s just a matter of working back around the chained crossbar and making the handlebars!
1st and 2nd pix here show the bike made with sports weight cotton and a 3 mm hook. This measures 2 inches/4.5 cm wide.
3rd pic shows two bikes made with thread weight cotton and a 1.75 mm hook. Just over 1 inch/2.5 cm wide.
4th pic is made with aran weight Kitchen Cotton from Lion Brand and a 5.0 mm hook. 2.5 inches/6.5 cm wide.
Handlebars can be perpendicular to the crossbar to give a 3D effect, or lie flat - see my instructions in the pattern.
Step-by-step pattern is in both US and UK instructions, and there are photos to show you the most important parts.
Enjoy the ride ;)
