The Billet Doux Shawl

Meet the second pattern in the secret attic collection!
Inspired by old love letters tucked away in a drawer, or the bottom of a chest. Beloved mementos, once opened, then carefully refolded time and time again.

The lacework brings to mind the delicate lines of cursive on aged paper.

The shawl is worked sideways. The design is minimal, with i-cord edging that’s worked as you knit the shawl so no finishing knitting is required. It’s a larger piece, with a shallower center point, and a longer wingspan. I can comfortably wrap my sample around my neck three times, and it’s so cozy!

It’s knit up in DK weight on size US 7/4.5 mm needles. I used baby alpaca and the drape is so lovely and romantic!
