Binge with me
The pattern for this shallow crescent shawlette is definitely easy enough to work on while you binge on your favourite shows, but the garter stripes and slipped stitches keep it interesting at the same time.
The shawlette is long and shallow, and is designed to be worn wrapped round your neck with the ends in front. It is also long enough to wrap twice around your neck to stay super snug when the temperature drops.
The wrong side is eye-catching, and you might even want to wear it with that side showing.
Finished dimensions after blocking: approximately 77 inches (195 cm) long from tip to tip and 7 ¾ inches (19.5 cm) deep at widest point.
Many thanks to my wonderful testers!
GAUGE: 20 stitches in 4” (10 cm) in garter stitch after blocking. While gauge is not critical for this project, differences in gauge will affect yarn usage and overall size of your shawl.
SUPPLIES
Allow 440 yards (400 m) of sport weight or dk yarn – half in each colour. This includes a 10% safety margin on my usage. A handdyed and a solid with good contrast between them is recommended. You can stop earlier if you want a narrower/shorter scarf, or keep going if you want it to be bigger. Just allow more yarn for a larger version.
A long US 7 (4.50mm needle) circular needle to accommodate all your stitches. You will be working back and forth in rows.
A sewing up needle.
