If you’ve knitted one pair of socks before, you can do this pattern!

This pattern is worked from the toe up, which I find allows you to be as efficient as possible with your yarn. It is written for one colour, but you can do more, or use it as a scrappy project and stripe as many colours in as you’d like! The instructions are the same for both socks until you reach the cuff, where the cute little cables twist in opposite directions.

Sizes
This pattern is written in S (M , L , XL) and each size is a different width, however it is suitable for any division of 4 stitches and can be altered to whatever length you desire - so if you have a shorter, wider foot, you could use a larger stitch count for the width and then less rounds for the length.
If you aren’t able to try your sock on as you go, I highly recommend drawing around the foot of whoever you’re knitting for and using that as your guide.

S = 60 stitches per round / length for UK shoe size 3 - 4.5 / EU 35.5 - 37.5 / US (women’s) 5 - 6.5 / 22 - 22.8cm / 81/2 - 9in

M = 64 stitches per round / length for UK shoe size 5 - 7 / EU 38 - 41 / US (women’s) 7 - 9.5 / 23 - 24.8cm / 9 - 93/4 in

L = 68 stitches per round / length for UK shoe size 7.5 - 9 / EU 41.5 - 43.5 / US (men’s) 8 - 9.5 /25 - 26.5cm / 10 - 101/2in

XL = 72 stitches per round / length for UK shoe size 9.5 - 10 / EU 44 / US (men’s) 10 - 10.5 /26.8 - 27.2cm / 101/2 - 103/4in

Yarn, Notions and Gauge
This pattern requires roughly 100g fingering weight yarn (400m per 100g).

I used Nervus Fibre 100% Corriedale sock yarn in Buttered for most of the sock with some sample minis for the heel and one strand of pink in the cuff. The largest size shouldn’t require more than 100g total of yarn, however it all depends how long you like the leg to be!
I used size 2.25mm / US 1 needles and knit at a gauge of 8st and 12rows per 2.5cm / 1in, in stockinette stitch in the round. I personally use Double Pointed Needles (DPNs) but you can use magic loop technique on a circular needle with a long cable, or 9in / 12in circulars once you get past the toe.
To complete these socks you’ll need your preferred needles, yarn snips or scissors, a tapestry needle, stitch markers and you may also need a small cable needle - depending on how you prefer to knit cable stitches.
