My first birthday sweater has grown with wearing, so I ‘needed’ another one :) Of course I took the opportunity of a re-design. The broad and beautiful raglan lines are just a little bit smaller and they are now floating into a shifting front, the neckline is shaped with short rows. To calculate the growing of the Half fisherman’s rib there is now a pre-blocking and after-blocking gauge on a much smaller needle size. I still love my Birthday sweater, the BiRTHDAY61 just has grown up a little :)

The BiRTHDAY61 sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down. Start working in half fisherman’s rib from the beginning, the neckline is shaped with short rows and the yoke is worked with raglan increases to sleeve separation. The sleeve stitches are then placed on hold, underarm sts are cast on, and you continue to work the body in half fisherman’s rib to the bottom. After the body is completed, the sleeve sts are picked up again to work the sleeves top down in half fisherman’s rib in the round to the end.
Hot tip: Both sides of the Half fisherman’s rib are beautiful and the sweater can be worn inside out, too. To minimize visible woven ends just join new yarn in an inconspicuous area
