Bite Into A Bosc Pear
This pattern provides instructions for making your very own Bosc pear to be enjoyed as a play-food item, a tree ornament, or a stand-alone novelty gift. The project is beginner-friendly and can be worked in the round for minimal seaming. The finished object measures roughly 5”- 5.5” (with stem) when working with heavy worsted weight yarn and US 6 (4.00mm) needles.
NOTIONS:
Pair US 6 / 4.00 mm knitting needles
Embroidery needle
MATERIALS:
5 g Pear Color (Heavy Worsted or Aran Wt.)
Scrap amt. Stem Color (Sport Wt.)
Poly-fill
GAUGE:
Different size needles and yarn can be substituted. Gauge is not important for this project so long as the yarn used for the actual fruit is more bulky than recommended for the chosen needles. If necessary, reduce needle size to US 4 or 5 to obtain a tight gauge.
SKILLS:
Basic knitting technique, including stockinette stitch and simple increases/decreases, seaming, chain stitch embroidery. Simple crochet chain using a threaded needle or just your hands if you don’t have a small crochet hook available to you.
