You know that bittersweet feeling at the end of August, when you’re kind of sad that summer is almost over, but you’re also excited that it’s almost time to start wearing warm sweaters again? And at the beginning of September you bring out your fall sweaters and wear them proudly, unwilling to admit to yourself that it’s still way too hot to be wearing heavy wool?
Bittersweet is a little shrug with elbow-length sleeves that’s just heavy enough to make you feel like you’re wearing your fall clothes. It’s warm enough to keep you cozy in those summer t-shirts you’re not quite ready to give up, but not so heavy that you’ll be breaking into a sweat.

This project was made using handspun yarn, but you can easily substitute another Aran-weight yarn like Debbie Bliss Donegal Aran Tweed, Araucania Nature Wool or even Noro Silk Garden if you feel like stripes.

Pattern includes instructions for sizes XS to 2XL.
