This pattern was designed for a 14” American Girl Bitty Baby or Corolle Baby Doll, the Mon Bebe Classique. It will fit a Madame Alexander doll, but I would make it a bit shorter and reduce the number of stitches in the headband. I would also make the body of the leggings a bit shorter.

All my designs are done with straight needles, and Caron Simply Soft Light Yarns. They are soft and durable; since these clothes are designed to be played with, I want them to be machine washable, yet look nice and feel soft. Please note that in this case the Caron red yarn bled into the white trim when it was washed in tepid water. Any yarn can be used that has the same weight (3) as the Caron. Since you will need one 3 oz skein of each to work in two colors, you will have plenty of yarn. You will need enough black yarn for the waist and center of the headband. I didn’t do a gauge test because the pattern has so much give to it.

The dress is worked in one piece from the top down, and has a black waistband done in ribbing with the smaller needles. The dress is edged in seed stitch as the texture makes it stand out a bit. The leggings use ribbing with smaller needles as a waistband, eliminating the need for elastic.

The headband could be adorned with a holiday button, a knit flower, or any other embellishment. I was going to do something but then decided it looked good with nothing added.
