Hobbii yarn’s Rainbow Cotton is one of my favorite yarns, and a while ago I got this variegated skein of it that consisted of different shades of grey, black, and cream. I couldn’t decide what to make with it, and eventually, I decided to try to make a pillow with it. I paired it with some other shades of Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/4 and this color combination is now one of my favorites! If you don’t have any variegated yarn in your stash and you want to create a similar color combination, you could use grey or cream for the centers of the squares. I can’t wait to see the colors that you choose!

I used one skein of Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/4 Print Yarn (100% cotton; 186 yds/ 50 g skeins) in the shade susanne and Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/4 Yarn (100% cotton; 175 yds/ 50 g skeins): 1 cerise, 1 wisteria, 1 curry, 1 old rose, 1 pastel pink, and 1 light jeans blue. You will also need a 14 by 14 inch (35 by 35 cm) square pillow insert and 5 buttons (1.5 cm in diameter). The buttons allow the pillowcase to be taken on and off the insert. If you are using a different yarn, when you finish the front side, measure it, and it will fit a pillow insert that is 1-2 in (2.5- 5 cm) longer than it.

There is a video tutorial on my YouTube channel for the black and white granny square. The link is included in the written pattern as well as some pictures to demonstrate the steps. I hope you enjoy the pattern!
