Black Beauty was born belonging to a well-to-do family. But after an accident that results in his knees being scarred, Black Beauty is sold, and resold to various masters. Black Beauty experiences a wide range of work conditions. Everything from dragging heavy carts for an ignorant master to pulling a cab for a kind master. Despite some difficult living conditions, Black Beauty keeps a kind temperament and finds a good home in the end.

These socks are inspired by the story Black Beauty, first published in 1877 by Anna Sewell. Horse shoe prints appear between cart wheel tracks.

The socks are knit toe up with a short row heel and toe.
