BLACK ROSE SWEATER ♥

Wool sweater in beautiful browns and black, with a touch of pink and crocheted edgings…
Inspired by Norwegian rose paintings on old wood.

In this sweater, the pattern yoke with roses is worked first, cast on provisionally and knit from the bottom up (see last image!).
After the yoke and neckline has been completed, the body and sleeves are worked top down from the cast on edge.
This “hybrid” construction makes it possible to get the sleeves and body perfectly customized in ength - as you can try it on while knitting!
The sweater is also completely seamless.

Knitting gauge is between 17 and 18 sts in 4” = 10 cm.
I got 17,5 sts in 10 cm.

NOTE: Needle size is only a guide.

I recommend knitting a test sample (in the round) before beginning knitting, to measure your tension.
If you get more than 17-18 sts in 10 cm, change to a larger needle size.
If you get less than 17-18 sts in 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

Measurements Size S:
Chest circumference: 97 cm / 38 “ approx.
Upper sleeve circumference: 32 cm / 13“

Measurements size M:
Chest circumference: Approx. 107 cm / 42 “ approx.
Upper sleeve cc: 38 cm / 15 “

Measurements Size L:
Chest circumference: 113 cm / 44,5 “
Upper sleeve circumference: 40 cm / 15,7 “

Measurements Size XL:
Chest circumference: 120 cm / 47 “ approx.
Upper sleeve circumference: 42 cm / 16 “

ABOUT THE YARN:
The sweater pictured is knitted in Alafoss Lettlopi - 100 % icelandic wool yarn. One ball is 100 m.
Pink details in Drops Nepal.

Pink touch:
To get the right soft pink color to match the black & browns, I chose to use a different type of yarn; Drops Nepal in color 8912.
(gauge approx. same as Lett-Lopi)

TIP for the crochet edging:
For a more pronounced picot-like crochet edge, dive 3 times in with the hook (instead of two as shown in the russian video).

TO AVOID CURLING OF EDGES:
Block the edges and moisten them with luke warm water.
Leave it for 48 hours days with heavy weight on top.
