Blackberry Buckle
Some of my favorite fall comforts are baked desserts that come together quickly but taste divine -- the kind of treats that are best enjoyed cozied in the living room on chilly nights. Blackberry Buckle takes its inspiration from those desserts, both in name and in it’s comfortable shape.
Suitable for both boys and girls, the sweater starts with a split hem that transitions into a body with optional A-line shaping for a more relaxed fit and an easy-to-memorize front cable panel. The wide neckline makes for easy wearing and set-in sleeves lend a polished look.
This pattern is appropriate for intermediate knitters and includes numerous intermediate-advanced skills, including the icord cast-on, tubular bind-offs, short row shaping, knitting in the round, and reading your knitting. The sleeves are worked from stitches picked up around the armholes and short row shaping forms the sleeve caps. The cables are great for practicing cabling without a cable needle.
