This pattern uses the technique known as planned pooling. If you are new to planned pooling, it is highly recommended that you watch tutorials and read how to do planned pooling as I do not go into details on how to actually pool. If you know how to pool, you will be able to follow this pattern.

This pattern uses Red Heart Super Saver in Blacklight. Each skein is 236 yds and uses 18-20 skeins in total for the queen size.

There is an option to use a solid color border. If you choose a solid color border, then you will only use 18 skeins of blacklight and 1-2 skeins (at 236 yds/skein) of a solid color for the border. The border yardage varies depending on your personal choice of border thickness. I used 1 skein of blacklight to border my blanket, totaling the number of blacklight skeins needed at 19.

This blanket is great with no border, or with the added border.

If you want to make a king size blanket, simply work in more skeins of yarn (2-3 more). For a twin-size blanket, use less skeins (less 2 - 3), to get the desired width that you’d like.

This blanket also uses the crab stitch (also known as reverse single crochet).

The only gauge is approx. 1 skein = 3 - 4 inches worked. Since planned pooling gauge varies from person to person, it is hard to set an actual gauge. It depends on the hook size used and a person’s own tension.

Images shown are both the border-less and bordered options, as well as what the blanket looks like while glowing under a black light.

Due to the nature of this pattern and technique, I have included several charts. The pattern is long, but I hope informative to help you succeed at planned pooling this beautiful blanket.
