Blame it on the Crumpets
Crumpets were a main topic of conversation in the 2016 Indie GAL chat thread. I will admit that I had never had crumpets prior to this event, but they are tasty. I also now have the knowledge of the correct amount of doneness along with many recommendations for toppings. For the curious, I topped my first crumpet with lemon honey.
The original working title for the pattern was “Parquet” which lead to the Parkay margarine commercial, butter, and then back to crumpets.
The cowl uses slipped stitches to simulate the patterns of a parquet floor. The slipped stitches and catches help break up pooling.
Needles A circular needle is recommended, about 24 inches in length.
Gauge It is not imperative that gauge be achieved. Note that changes in gauge will impact the final size and amount of yarn needed.
Gauge was measured in stockinette.
Skills Working in the round, slipping stitches, moving markers
Due to the stitch pattern, the end of the round moves.
Size Cowl is worked to the desired height. Due to the super bulky yarn, changes in circumference are best accomplished through changing the yarn weight and number of repeats.
