I spent a lot of time growing up on the Blanco River in Wimberley, Texas. I especially miss it during the summer when I would spend a lot of times swimming and tubing in the river while visiting Grammy, my grandmother. I wanted to memorialize the beauty of the river through this knitted poncho. The motifs mimic the currents, flows, and rapids of the river with the orange beads representing the limestone river bottoms that seem to glisten orange when wet raising out of the river.

This shawl poncho is constructed first as a large rectangle. The upper edge will then be sewn or crochet together to form the poncho. This poncho can be knit in only 1 color yarn or 2+ colors. It looks great in pretty much any yarn color such as variegated, semi-solid, tonal, gradient, solid, self-striping, etc! If using more than one color, carry up the non-working yarn through the i-cord edging.
