Blank Slate
Blank Slate has been written especially to show off your beautiful 8 ply/DK or 10 ply/worsted weight yarn. I knit the original shortly after my daughter was born as I found it very handy when we went to the park with my elder two and I could easily slip the poncho over her instead of fiddling with blankets!
Make the most out of your gradient, variegated, semisolid, or speckled yarn and there are also two extra stitch patterns included (Pixie and Elven), so you can mix and match to really make it your own. Blank Slate is an easy to follow, written in the round and neck down pattern. It’s a fun knit to pop over your child as they are rushing out the door to go on an adventure and explore!
It even looks great doubled up as a skirt!
Sizes: 0-3mths/3-6mths/6-12mths/1yr/2yr/3yr/4yr/5yr/6yr/7yr/8yr
Gauge isn’t terribly important but please note that 8 ply has a looser drape than the 10 ply when knit in the same gauge.
Make sure to measure child from top of shoulder near neckline to wear you would like the poncho to sit ie just above wrist taking in account a 2.5cm-4cm hem – long enough to ensure a couple of winters but not impede the use of hands!
You will need between 125gms and 250gms of DK/worsted weight yarn depending on size you choose.
