Blast off Blanket
Intro
This mega kids blanket is out of this world. Wrap up your little space explorer in love, and their own personal (and personalised) rocket. This pattern also includes a free smaller version with instructions for how to make a closed porthole.
This blanket is made up of mostly beginner friendly stitches so is perfect for ambitious beginners. It will be a quick and easy make for intermediate and advanced makers.
Due to the double stranded yarn this blanket has a lovely, almost weighted blanket feel to it. It is very loved in our house by my four year old. I deliberately made the blanket bigger than necessary since we all love something generous to snuggle.
My gauge is 12 stitches and 6 rows in a 10 cm square. I tend to make my stitches tall so don’t worry if you don’t match gauge for rows. Throughout the pattern I have given measurements if you need to do more rows
I used a 6mm hook and double strands of cotton yarn so the blanket is heavy and weighty.
You are welcome to use whatever yarn you have to hand, but I recommend double stranding it and using a 6mm hook or whatever you need to match gauge for stitch count (row count isn’t important) otherwise you may end up with a much smaller blanket.
