Wool from my local area, spun in Cornwall, I was in love immediately! With this design I wanted to showcase the beautiful sheen, texture and durability of this yarn in a contemporary garment that takes inspiration from athletic and streetwear styles, with clean lines and nifty details like a drawstring neckline and extra long sleeves with thumbholes.

The sweater is meant to be worn with a bit of positive ease in the lower body, see pattern for detailed advice.

The sweater is shown in size S3 on a person with a 84 cm / 33’’ bust and a 90 cm / 35’’ hip.

Yarn advice:
The original sweater was knitted with “Foxy” by Wolle Willich (350 m / 380 yards per 100g) a worsted-spun sportweight yarn from Coburger Fuchsschaf, a traditional German sheep breed.
It can be knitted with any sportweight or light DK yarn. Smooth pure wool yarns are particularly recommended.

Needle advice:
Use the needle size that gives you the required gauge,
most likely 3 – 3.5mm / US 2 ½ – 4. You will also need a needle one or two sizes smaller.
The garment is partly worked flat and partly in the round. If you want to use the same needle for everything, it is best to use a medium long circular needle (80 - 100 cm / 32 – 40’’). The sleeves can be worked with “magic loop” or with dpns.

Construction:
The sweater is worked top down, seamlessly and mostly in the round, starting with the drawstring neckline. The raglan yoke is knitted “inside out” so as to avoid purling. Within the yoke, the neckline is shaped with short rows. Below the yoke the sleeve stitches are put on hold and the body is worked in the round to the bottom edge. The sleeves are also worked in the round and mostly “inside out” again, with double layer sleeve cuffs with thumbholes.

Herausgekommen ist ein moderner, von Funktionskleidung inspirierter Pullover mit klaren Linien und schlauen Details wie einem Tunnelzug und extralangen Ärmeln mit Daumenlöchern.

Der Pullover ist mit etwas Mehrweite konzipiert, d.h. es sollte in der Tabelle eine Größe gewählt werden, bei der der Umfang an Brust, Taille und Unterkante etwas größer ist als am eigenen Körper.

Die Photos zeigen den Pullover in Größe S3 an einer Person mit 84 cm Brustumfang und 90 cm Hüftumfang.

Garnhinweise:
Der Originalpullover wurde mit “Foxy” von Wolle Willich (350 m / 100g) gestrickt, einem Kammgarn aus Coburger Fuchsschafwolle.
Das Design eignet sich für alle möglichen Garne in “Sportweight” oder dünnere DK, d.h. in etwa 6-fache Sockenwolle. Glattes Garn aus reiner Wolle ist besonders gut geeignet.

Nadeln:
Es sollte die Nadelstärke verwendet werden, mit der die angegebene Maschenprobe erreicht wird, wahrscheinlich 3 – 3,5 mm.
Es wird auch eine Nadel benötigt, die ein bis zwei Größen kleiner ist.
Der Pullover wird teilweise flach und teilweise in der Runde gestrickt. Wenn man für alles die gleiche Nadel verwenden will, empfiehlt sich eine mittellange Rundstricknadel (80 – 100 cm). Die Ärmel können mit “magic loop” oder mit Sockennadeln gestrickt werden.

Konstruktion:
Der Pullover wird von oben nach unten, nahtlos und großteils in der Runde gestrickt, angefangen beim Hals-bündchen mit Tunnelzug. Die Raglanpasse wird “auf links” gestrickt, damit man rechte Maschen stricken kann und die linken Maschen außen sind. Innerhalb der Raglanpasse wird mit verkürzten Reihen der Halsaus-schnitt geformt. Nach der Raglanpasse werden die Ärmel-maschen stillgelegt und der Körper bis zur Unterkante in der Runde gestrickt. Auch die Ärmel werden rund und “auf links” gestrickt. An den Ärmelbündchen werden Daumenlöcher doppellagig gearbeitet.
