Blauw bloed is a trapezoid shaped shawl that is worked from the center top down. It is knit in rows and the colorwork emphasis three royal flowers. In the end the shawl is seamed by a beautiful lace border that is knit sideways along the colorwork.
’Blauw bloed’ in Dutch means blue blood. It is a saying for people born in royalty or with aristocratic roots. As the colors and the design of this shawl are classical and elegant, it could be part of the Queens wardrobe, I think. And you should feel like a King or Queen when you wear it.
Since the lace border flows along the edge and doesn’t have a particular end or beginning, the shawl can be easily adjusted in size. You can add more rows in colorwork for a bigger size, or less. Or in other words, you don’t have to worry about a stitch count. The chart of the lace border has written instructions as well.

As I know a lot of knitters are afraid to work the stranded color technique in rows. Because they think they can not work the purl side.

Main needle for stranded colorwok: 3,5 mm (US 4) circular needle or DPNs 80 cm (32”) or longer.
Lace border: 3 mm (US 3) circular or DPNs 100 cm (39”) or longer.

Gauge
25 sts x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4”) rows in stranded knitting technique on needle 3,5 mm (US 4) after blocking.
