I never bothered with gauge because using heavy worsted weight yarn with size 8 US needles always seems to be approximately 32”-35”. Then you can knit to the length desired.

I used the long tail cast on and Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Sewn bind off because they are almost identical. But you can use any cast on/bind off that you prefer.

The yarn I used was Bernat Premium in Warm Rose, however any heavy worsted weight soft yarn will do.
