Blocky
Blocky can be a long, rectangular shawl/scarf, or a looped cowl—and you don’t really have to decide which you’re making until you’re close to the end. It’s lightweight, so it’s easy to wear as a traditional scarf.
Knit Blocky flat from the top down, with one skein of fingering-weight yarn in a main color and one in a contrast color.
Materials:
- ~400 yards of MC (shown in Malabrigo Yarn Sock, colorway Zarzamora), ~250 yards CC (shown in Malabrigo Yarn Sock, colorway Frank Ochre)
- 1 48”circular needle in US4/3.5mm, or size needed for gauge
- 2 or more removable stitch markers
- Tapestry needle
- Optional: spare DPN for bindoff
Gauge:
Gauge is 26 sts and 34 rows over 4”/10cm in garter stitch, worked flat and blocked. Please be sure to check your gauge.
(Yarn estimates on the higher end refer to a longer scarf and are tentative. I knit the cowl, but I think it may have worked better as a shawl, since you’d have more wrapping options and the blocks would be easier to feature.)
