This flower-filled cowl knitting pattern is a collaborative project between Bloom Woolen Yarns and Liz Sorenson Knitwear as part of the Western Massachusetts Fibershed.

Yarn: 2 skeins Natural Gray, and 1 skein each of 2 different colors (yardage used is less than full skeins)
Gauge: Stockinette for reference, but in stranded colorwork: 21 st/4” and 22.5 rows/4”
Needles: two US 7 circular 16” needles (one to use for grafting)

Skills you will learn: provisional cast-on and grafting (Kitchener stitch seaming) optional: cast on and bind off as usual and seam; knitted star stitch, stranded colorwork and using a chart.

The Bloom Garden Cowl is a tubular cowl with stranded colorwork and a Mobius twist. Three styles of flowers circle the cowl to keep you intrigued with each motif. Experienced intermediate and advanced knitters will enjoy this project knit in the round. The first section has text instructions, the next two flower sections are charted only.

The cowl uses a provisional cast-on seamed at the end with the “invisible” Kitchener stitch and a Mobius twist. If you prefer not to do the provisional cast-on and Kitchener stitch, just cast on and bind off as usual and seam the ends of the tube together when finished as instructed.
