Bloom Hat
Welcome Spring and welcome Bloom Hat!
2022-2023 has been a long and dreary winter season in Portland, so to combat that, I decided to spend some time writing out one of my most repeated (and complemented) hat patterns. I put the name up to a poll, and the people have spoken, it’s time to Bloom!
This hat is worked in the round from the bottom up. There will not be instructions to work with DPNs as the decreases are written with magic loop in mind. A chart is provided for the flower, and there are no written instructions for the chart.
This is a simple stranded colornwork design, and I think it looks best to pick yarns with some texture. All of the samples I’ve made have the flowy glowy haze of mohair in the blend. Woolfolk Flette adds a great texture, but be forewarned - the boucle fabric can be finicky to work with, especially to meet gauge.
Have fun with your color choices, and go bold with your textures! Nature is chaotic and beautiful allowing the freedom and fun of your piece flow.
