• Tillandsia Ionantha is originally native to Mexico, Costa Rica, and certain areas of South America.

• Other common Ionantha varieties include Ionantha, Ionantha Guatemala, Ionantha Mexican, Ionantha Rubra, Ionantha Fuego, Ionantha Peanut, Ionantha Victoriana, Ionantha Rosita.

• Tillandsia (air plants) are members of the Bromeliad family which makes them close cousins to pineapples.

• Air plants use trichomes (small, hair-like growths which are found on plants) to absorb nutrients and moisture from the air. They’re like little cups that open and close to absorb and retain moisture.

• The flowers of most air plants are not scented.

• Studies show that Tillandsia could be used to clean the air of heavy metals.
