Want an organic twist to a vanilla sock? Look no further. The Blooming Meadow socks are an assigned pooling pattern. You knit a stockinette sock as you normally would, and then let the pooling portion of your yarn dictate where little flowers will bloom. To get a similar effect as the sample, use a yarn that has a 4-5” section in a contrasting color. The pattern does offer suggestions in the case that the section of contrasting color is longer.

The sock is worked toe up, with a shadow wrap heel, and an option for anatomical toes. I used two contrasting colors, one for the toes and cuffs, and another for the heel. This is of course optional, you can use just one contrasting color, if you prefer.

The pattern comes in 4 sizes XS, S, M, L: 56, 60, 64, 72 stitches for a finished sock circumference of 7”, 7.5”, 8”, 9”.
However, the nature of the pattern and flexibility of the shadow wrap heel allows you to use your preferred stitch count, if different from the 4 sizes.

Gauge: 8 stitches and 12 rows in 1” of stockinette
Yarn: I didn’t have any yarn with small contrasting sections of color, so I dyed a 100g skein of wool2dye4 platinum sock with wilton’s color right food coloring. I also used 2 20g mini skeins of the same base. I was able to make both this pair and the Budding Meadow socks pair from that yarn.
