Blooming Shades
Inspired by the gorgeous camellias and roses growing in our garden, some showing hints of delicate blushing colours as they develop from tiny buds to their full glorious blooms.
These stranded colour work socks are worked toe up with a heel flap and gusset.
For those of us who just cannot bring ourselves to knit fraternal socks, this pair fulfils that desire, slightly, as the sole is worked in the opposite colours to the instep and leg.
Sizes: Small (64 sts), Medium (72 sts), Large (80 sts)
Yarn: Fingering weight sock yarn. For all sizes I would suggest 100 g of main colour and 50-60 g for the contrast colour.
Needles: 2.25 mm/US1 needles for working small circumference in the round (or size required to achieve gauge).
Gauge: 36 sts/40 rounds = 10 cm/4 inches measured over colour work section. Gauge is measured after washing and laying flat to dry.
The instructions for the construction of the socks are written and the colour work pattern is only charted.
Thank you to yarnymama, imperfectlycrafty, Oricon and brittanyinoregon who tested this pattern.
A huge thanks also to yarnymama, Condichick and SNSSO who have provided valuable advice, guidance, feedback and encouragement.
