Blooming Stars Blanket
When that little new person comes into the world, what better to wrap him or her in than a blanket echoing tales about both the flowers outside and the stars in the sky?
The Blooming Stars Blanket features all-over cabled lace, framed in a broken rib stitch border. It is worked flat from one end to the other, working the edging simultaneously with the body of the blanket.
The size described here is for a baby blanket, but it can easily be sized up (or down!) if desired.
Yarn: DK weight yarn, approximately 800 m / 875 yards.
Yarn used for sample: Knitter’s Kitchen Merino/Nylon DK (75% Merino, 25% Nylon), 225 m / 246 yards per 100g, 4 skeins. Colorway: Early Birch Leaves
Needles: 4,5 mm / US 7 circulars, 80 cm / 32 inches, or straight needles if you prefer.
optional: Needles a size or two bigger for cast on.
Gauge: Sample uses gauge of 24 sts & 26,5 rows to 10 cm / 4 inches in cabled lace pattern. Gauge is not crucial, but keep in mind that a different gauge will have impact on the final size of the blanket and yardage needed.
Size: Width: approximately 70 cm / 27.5 inches;
Height/length: approximately 100 cm / 39.25 inches.
Size is adjustable.
