I wanted to do a octagon that didn’t have much chain space between the stitches, so it covers for example an old pillow with a pattern on the frontside and if you want to do a bag without lining. I ended up with a square but also a octagon if you stop crocheting before the last four rounds.

I have divided the The Blossom Medallion square pattern in to four parts, such as the flower in the middle (Center r.1-10), the colorful octagon around the flower (Inner frame r.11-15), the more discrete octagon (Outer frame r. 16-21) and if you want to do the octagon in to a square (corners r. 22-25).
