I came across Walk Off the Earth’s Sarah Blackwood covering “Blue Ain’t Your Colour” (originally by Keith Urban) and was super inspired. After listening to the song way too many times I decided to knit a cowl that fit the theme and lilt of the song.
It also started with the Gauge Dye Works Bright Blue. It was the only yarn I could picture this idea in at the time and I needed to see if I could make twin sock yarn work for a cool cowl! (I think it worked very well :-)

I envision it in a gradient that ends in blue so you can keep the blue towards the bottom. But the world if your oyster, so can end your cowl with whatever ain’t your colour!

DK Version: 18in around x 15in high
100g of any gradient dk weight

Sock Weight Version: 20in around x 23in high
115g (at least) of any merino/nylon sock yarn

Worsted Version:
200yds of any gradient, worsted weight wool

This pattern very easily adjustable. You can make the rib, stockinette and/or mesh sections as long or short you want and I knit samples in Fingering, DK and Worsted weight to give you some numbers as a jumping off point for your version.
