This pattern was thought of while I was working endlessly on Christmas sock knitting. It was the first year that I had made socks for my knit-worthy friends and family, and I was able to crank out five pairs in only six short weeks. I decided with the leftover yarn that I should make myself a pair of socks.

On the way home from our vacation, which was when the gift socks were all delivered, we received the terrible news that my husband’s uncle had passed away while we were away. Being only weeks before Christmas and the colors of the leftover yarns were mostly shades of blue, the name Blue Christmas was stuck in my head. This sock is the result of the emotional roller coaster that was Christmas 2019.
