My hat design for 2015, “Blue Dream,” is a square hat for everyone, not just our little ones. Years ago, I purchased a hat just like this. Even though I do not have it any more, the image of that hat has stayed with me all these years. The original hat was seamed from one rectangular piece. I do not like seaming, so I designed it to be knitted in the round. The proportion and locations of the two colors is the key to its success. The cute little tail is mischievous. You can wear it with the tail at the back or at the side.

Skills required: k, p, k2tog, ssk, German Twisted CO, 3-Needle BO, I-Cord (YouTube links are provided in the pattern)

Finished size: 10”/25.4cm wide at CO edge, 8”/20cm high.

The size is easy to customize by changing the number of stitches CO and by knitting to your preferred height.
