Blue Interference

The inspiration of this design came from the motifs of carpets that I admired during my stay in Mexico in 2018. I began by designing a small pyramid, mirroring it with a contrasting shade. A third shade “interferes” with the pattern, by breaking up the rhythm of the triangular motifs with a rectangular shape.

Long gauge-size circular needle for holding finger stitches
Waste yarn (for holding thumb stitches)

Tapestry needle

Gauge
34 stitches and 36 rounds to 10cm / 4in over stranded colourwork in the round on gauge-size needle(s).
Use 3mm needle(s) as a starting point for swatching.

Size
To fit adult hand, with 18-20.5cm / 7-8in circumference

Special Techniques
1x1 rib long tail tubular cast on

Pattern Notes
These gloves are worked from bottom to top. After the cuff, the hand is worked in stranded colourwork integrating a gusset for the thumb. After the hand is completed, the four fingers and the thumb are worked separately.
