The drooping, blue bell-shaped flowers which give the Bluebell Flower its name are common in much of Britain and Ireland, but are rare in the rest of the world. They carpet the woodland floor early in the spring in a beautiful sea of violet-blue. The Bluebell Bias Scarf is a celebration of this stunning little flower. It is an asymmetric triangle that is knit from the border up, and features 25 ruffled lace bluebells. The scarf is then knit on a simple decreasing garter stitch bias sideways to the end. I chose to knit it in Madelinetosh’s sport weight Pashmina Yarn in Baroque Violet. I used about 300 of the 360 yards on the skein. This is a quick and simple knit, and the scarf is easy to wear because of its bias construction. I found that the scarf did not need blocking using this particular yarn. When finished, the scarf is about 5 feet in length, and 8 inches at its deepest point. The pattern includes a chart and written instructions for the border, and written instructions only for the main body.
